This really is a reality check for Jewish people everywhere, no matter the outcome of the lagging war against Hamas, I believe: are Jews, who have been persecuted and scapegoated for centuries, going to continue to align with those who are showing themselves fair-weather friends at best, and openly antisemitic at worst; or are we going to recognize that our identity and hope as God’s chosen people are being challenged by those who don’t accept any chosenness or particularity, or that there is even such a God as ours is? Passover has made Him famous all around the world, because it is true. If He is only a myth, then so are we.
