I love Yeshua/Jesus! God loved me and gave me hope for a better world when He saved me from “this world” which cannot save itself, or even make itself better, from God’s point of view. Why? Because the devil is the “god of this world”.
Against all expectations for a prosperous year in 2020, the Corona virus changed everything. The Word of God written by James became truth for many people in the world: “Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to day, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.” (Ja 4:13-16)
Yeshua is coming again to make this world right! This is the blessed hope, and is connected with the resurrection of the righteous and the catching up of those in Messiah who are alive at His coming. This is something which should give us much to be thankful for each day, to praise the Lord, to worship the only true God and Savior!
Ps 46 is written by the sons of Korach, who could appreciate the grace of YHVH towards them, given their ‘father’ who rebelled against Moses and Aaron for the priesthood. (Num 16; Jude 8-11) This psalm is a song for/upon “alamot” – perhaps virgins prepared for marriage; perhaps also for the Bride of Messiah now, who is hid with Him in God; perhaps for times when the cause is hidden and not comprehended by humans, like the break-out of the corona virus “pandemic”. (The root of the word — ע-ל-מ –has to do with “hidden”; “veiled”; “concealed”.)
We can look back on our experiences in our life as a believer, and see how faithful and true Yeshua has been to us. This gives us great confidence that our God is always near to help and deliver us by His power and grace when we are in trouble. We are safe in His presence, even if we must suffer for His sake. We do not need to fear – no matter what might happen: even if the Earth should be removed, or the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea, the waters roaring, and the mountains shaking at the powerful swelling glory of God. Brothers and Sisters, this psalm – whatever had been experienced in the past, or in their present today, by the sons of Korach and the children of Israel, or by us – this psalm is describing events that will occur during Jacob’s Trouble/Great Tribulation in the near future, leading up to the Day of YHVH, and the return of Messiah in great power and glory. It gives us great and living hope when we believe in our God and Lord, who is the same today as He was yesterday and tomorrow. (Lk 21:25-28)
The sons of Korach looked with faith to that Day, to the City of God, where YHVH dwells, and the river of living water flowing out of the city which Abraham also waited for when he received the covenantal promises. (Ezek 47:1-12; Rev 22:1-7; Heb 11:8-16) This day of joy and glory will come after the night, at daybreak, against the enemies of the LORD and of His people.
YHVH of Hosts is with us – strong and mighty! The God of Jacob – the personal God of grace – is our refuge! The name of Yeshua is a strong tower; and the righteous run to Him. Selah
Let us remember and consider the works of YHVH, Creator of the Heavens and the Earth and the seas, and all that is in them. The Creator will devastate the Earth, so that He may make it much better through redemption – by the blood of the cross, by power, and by grace. YHVH is a Man of War, and He will war against those who love war, and will make wars to cease in this world that He created and made! All the instruments of war will be burned up, and righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit will fill the Earth with the glory of YHVH as the waters cover the seas. Everything that has breath will praise Yeshua, to the glory of the Father!
At the Passover, when the Israelis were fleeing Pharaoh and his armies, what did YHVH tell Moses to tell the people?: “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the YHVH, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” (Ex 14:13-14) In other words: “Be still/release/let go, and know that I am God!” Our hope and faith in man must go, if we are going to let Yeshua show that He alone will be exalted in the Earth among the nations, and among His own people whom He chose for His glory. Let YHVH be God!
YHVH of Hosts is with us; the God of Jacob — the God of grace — is our refuge! Selah
God will bring us through. We do all that we can to live for Him, but it is He who promises to bring us through. Jesus says that the Father is pleased to give us the Kingdom. The grace of God which brings salvation has appeared! For those who love the Lord there is no need to fear.
Let us all remember, even as the sons of Korach, from where we have come when the Good Shepherd found us and brought us home to the Father’s house. Even so, come, Lord Jesus! Hallelu-Yah! Amen!
