The Judgment Seat of Messiah

The PM of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, and the President of the United States, Donald Trump, are both facing charges and efforts to remove them from their elected offices.  Both reject the charges against them.  Both claim that what they do, or have done, is no different than what others before them have done; or else that they are simply being falsely accused of some degree or other of misconduct.  (I am not saying here whether either of them is criminally guilty of the charges against them.)  In both countries, those who are most excited about the prospects of their political demise are those who are actively and openly pursuing giving up national sovereignty, and openly advocating for erasing all the boundaries of order — not only politically, but also down to even of gender.  How low will we go?

Both of these men also contribute to these declines by their personal lives, and their own narrow views of “me first”, “us first”, “America first”; “Israel/the Jewish people first”.  Each are righteous in their own eyes, and those who support them feel that these men represent something worth supporting more than those who oppose them.  The “other side” justifies themselves by their own self-righteous “liberalism”.  However, the righteousness of God deems both of their righteousnesses as filthy rags; for they carry the name of the LORD in vain.  The narrow road which leads to life is neither left nor right, nor in a false and compromised unity, where many find themselves — including many who call upon the name of the LORD.   Those who are first will be first — in God’s way and time.  By His righteousness and His grace, He can make the first last, and the last first; but He will fulfill all things as He has promised to do.

We are called to go outside our camps to Him who has been cast out, and bear His reproach, not being embarrassed or ashamed of His words in this wicked and adulterous generation.  Adultery is unfaithfulness to our covenanted God, or to our wife or husband, or to those others who are joined together in blood covenant with the Lord Jesus Christ/Yeshua the Messiah.

YHVH has set His Son, the Anointed One, to be King in Zion, and to be the Ruler in Israel and over the nations.  Any one who presumes to “fill this role” in His place is an antichrist, paving the way for the Antichrist.  When believers in Yeshua/Jesus are exhorted to pray for those in authority, it is not just that we might have a quiet and peaceable life, testifying that we are loyal citizens of our respective countries, but mostly that those in high places would repent and come to the knowledge of the truth.  There is only one Mediator between God and man:  the Man Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead.

When those who choose not to love and honor Him for who He is stand before the Judgment Seat, they will not be able to save themselves from condemnation by saying that everyone else did these things, too.  When those who are the Lord’s receive His judgments for our works done in the body as believers, we, too, will not be able to plead any “relative” merits to earn our eternal rewards.

God is preparing us all for things to come, and calls all men everywhere to repentance, first of all in the churches.  It is painful and a cause of nervousness when we see our leaders in trouble — whether they be our political leaders, or our religious leaders, or our intellectual, business, sports, our family leaders.  But God has a higher purpose in mind, and His plan to establish HIS righteous and holy kingdom over and within His creation will not allow for impostors and thieves to continue beyond whatever line He has drawn in the dirt.

Today is the day of salvation; today is the acceptable year of YHVH; the gospel is still the message we have been given to proclaim until the Lord comes — which ever way the wind blows and the leaves fall until that appointed time.  Surely He comes quickly; things are not continuing as they always have since the beginning of the Creation.  God is long-suffering, desiring that all would repent unto salvation and life.  But thank and praise the Lord that there is a set time to bring all that opposes Him and His people to an end!

  1. Shalom Howard. Thank you for your unbiased, objective and perceptive reflection. I do agree with you that both the leaders you mention are in need of repentance and salvation.

We judge one by the fruits of one’s repentance, and not by a leader’s alignment with the ‘evangelical’ voter base for political gain. Moving the US embassy to Jerusalem, or being pro-life, or being anti-gay, or being pro-Israel does not make one a believer in YHVH or in Yeshua.

When asked in an interview with the media in 2016, Trump said that he “does not regret never asking God for forgiveness, partially because he doesn’t have much to apologise for”.

  2. Have you ever seen attacks on two leaders at the same time? These attacks are made by the same group – the liberals. Do you understand that these two leaders of the countries are very connected? First of all, this is an allied relationship. And also, that one is the leader of Israel, who does not want to give a square meter of land, which was YHVE to the Jewish people in all wars in which the people won. This is due to the leader of the country, which in the history of the USA after Reagan is a Christian. This is a leader who has an attempt to restore Christian values and make the people of America prosper on the basis of these values. This is the leader who recognized Jerusalem as an indivisible country of Israel. And all the accusations are related to the fact that all leftists, liberals of the world want to establish the dictatorship of their values, solve the Jewish question in their own way, divide Jerusalem, use people in Israel who are ready to return even to the borders of 1949. finally, these are the last times, and on the borders of Israel are the countries of Gog and Magog. The book of Daniel speaks of the apostates of the holy covenant. The holy covenant is the covenant of the holy land – Israel. The apostates of the holy covenant are Jews who want to give the land of this covenant to a foreign people and a foreign god (idol). And all for the sake of their idol is liberal. Take an interest in Google, what is this ancient idol. Sorry, but you have a very narrow vision of everything. Where is your righteousness when the prayer of the righteous can do much good for the USA and Israel? Sorry, but your reasoning is the words of the red-faced. Better pray for Israel so that you do not have to write what you do not see and do not understand. But your faith should change the world in favor of the righteousness of both leaders of the countries you wrote about.

    • Nickolai, thanks for your passionate reflection. Yes, both of these leaders are being “targeted”. I am not saying that either one is guilty of the accusations and charges against them. My point is that their defense is not one that anyone will be able to present at the Judgment Seat of Messiah. And especially that these targeted leaders are a Jew and a Christian all the more requires of them a higher defense according to YHVH’s covenants with and through Israel.

We can thank God for the good things that each of these leaders stand for, while at the same time seek their salvation. Or, if one of them is already saved (as some claim), that he would show fruits of repentance. It is not necessary to be a disciple of the Lord to support Israel, or to be against a compromise political solution, or to be against abortion. Praise God that the Holy Spirit works among all in the world, and that there are good works done by people from all backgrounds and faith. But good works do not save them. And taking credit to oneself for our good works or political policy stances does not honor the name of the Lord, but of ourselves or affiliated group.

Jesus/Yeshua is coming again; He will judge all those opposed to Him and to His righteous kingdom. Until then, we have the gospel to preach to all people everywhere, calling them to repentance and faith in the Name of the LORD.

  3. Hi Howard..from Merle Jacobs. I so much encouraged by your balanced words with the focus on Yeshua. We all are in His hands. Hope that this finds you & Randi and your family blessed by the Lord. Always your friend…Merle & Maria

  4. Always appreciate your biblical perspective, Howard. In the Chicago area we’ve also seen the “terrible tumbles” taken by significant Evangelical leaders in the last year. A good reminder to us who think we stand to take heed lest we fall. Let’s “finish well,” my brother — in whatever time remains before we enter Eternity.
