Superman, etc

I was watching some Fox & Friends this afternoon (Israel time), and I think (I wasn’t listening that closely) that the presenters were bringing up the new “woke-ness” of Superman and his LGTBQIA2S+ (!!!) user-friendly identity.  He was no longer the protector of “the American way”, but just a hope of “a better tomorrow”, without any particular value system.  Then they said that the owners of the iconic Man of Steel had renounced Superman’s U.S. American citizenship back in 2011, in order to be a global citizen.  And, then…, one of the show’s hosts said that Jesus has never renounced His American citizenship. Folks, this is where things are at present, with warnings of future things still to manifest.  This, among professing Christians, who may or may not be born-again from Above believers.  I do not know, and I pray for God to shake His house awake – but not woke.  We all know that we need this!  The same show publicized a new book written by another of the hosts and her husband, called An American Christmas.  But is it about a believing Christian’s Christmas?  From the publicity, I am not so sure, just that it is American.

I am sorry to bear discouraging news to any of you, but the Kingdom of God is not America, not Germany, not Zambia, not Russia, not even Israel, nor even the Body of Christ.  The Kingdom of God is within me, but I fall short of His glory in all things.  Our way of life in any country or church is not fully submitted to the Lordship and Kingship of the Son of God, no matter what tag or label we want to attach.  Jesus will establish the Father’s Kingdom when He comes, and then His will shall be done on Earth as it is in Heaven. But even then, there will be still sin, death, and a final rebellion.  The fullness of God’s Kingdom will be realized in the new heavens and new Earth after the final judgment after the 1000-year reign of Messiah and of His saints. (Rev 20 – 22)

Jesus/Yeshua came down from Heaven, “emigrating” from there to take up Israeli citizenship, being born in Bethlehem, Judea, Israel, and growing up in Nazareth, Galilee, Israel.  When He returned to His own place (Hos 5:15), He also left us a promise that He would return again to Jerusalem, Israel, to take up the throne of David and rule both Israel and the nations.  He was never an American citizen, nor has He renounced His chosen Israeli land of birth in taking on flesh and blood as our Redeemer and Savior and King. (Mt 2:12-23

Without seeing the return of the Lord to fulfill all that is written in Moses and in the Prophets, and in the New Testament, we lose the plot of God’s eternal and temporal plan and purpose.  We start believing fables (whether Jewish, Christian, Hellenistic, Hindu, other pagan, secular:  see Tit 1:13-16), and make the God of Truth, who can not lie, a liar and a deceiver.  We make YHVH like “one of the gods”, and raise up other gods to equality with the one true living God.  We are in spiritual exile, and don’t even know it. (Rev 3:14-22)  Did you know, by the way, that “Laodicea” means essentially the same thing as “democracy”?:  rule and judgment by the people.   God has a Kingdom; Jesus is the King; His Kingdom will never pass away!  Good news for those who love Him!

I was sent a report today warning of how Christians and Christianity are the target of the current administration in the U.S.  They will use a compromised church and her pastors to use particular Scripture out of context, or without spiritual discernment and discretion, in order to find especially conservative Bible-believing Christians guilty of rebelliousness and transgressions.  As one who sees the downward trend of things, leading ultimately to the reign of terror by the Antichrist, and then to the Day of YHVH (the day of vengeance of our God – Is 61:2b-3), which will bring in the righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit of the Kingdom of Messiah, this report and warning is not surprising, even if it is nonetheless alarming.  Do we hear the alarm, in the light of Scripture?

Anti-semitism is getting out of the closet, and anti-Christian follows, as the end of the age gets ever nearer.  Many Jewish people are in this administration, as they have been in many prior.  Many called Christian are also in the administration, as have been in many prior.  When things are good, all is well.  When things “go south”, the scapegoat is easy to find.  Whose kingdom are we of:  one of the world’s; or the one that is not of this world? (Jn 18:33-37)  Daniel the Prophet could “speak truth to power” because he feared the LORD and faithfully served Him and kept faith in His covenant.  When we break covenant with Jesus/Yeshua, or if we make other covenants in addition to accepting YHVH’s, we will not be as Daniel was, nor can we be.  We have become compromised; and the salt becomes less salty, and the light becomes dimmer, and the fragrance of Christ through us a bit stale.

There are some God-fearing believers who are called to be “Josephs”, preparing storehouses of food and shelter for some rough times to come.  Most of us are not called to this, since most believers in the world do not have the resources or the capacity for such prepping.  We may find ourselves very grateful to live near enough to someone with that calling and generous provision, but supplies will be depleted, and they are very cumbersome to carry should they have to flee the persecutors themselves.  As another has said:  “We want to be revivalists, not survivalists.”  But, praise the Lord, God makes use of and rewards everyone whom He has called and justified, even sometimes those who do not even yet know Him! (Mt 25:31-40)

As we see more clearly and openly prophecies coming to pass towards fullness – whether positively or negatively – what is to be our heart attitude and response towards the suffering that we are also called to because of Jesus’ name sake? (Phlp 1:27-30; 1Pt 4:7-19; Lk 21:12-19)

The end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. 10 As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.

12 Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters. 16 Yet,  if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

17 For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now,

“If the righteous one is scarcely saved,
Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.”

And again:

12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers for My name’s sake. 13 But it will turn out for you as an occasion for testimony. 14 Therefore settle it in your hearts not to meditate beforehand on what you will answer; 15 for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist. 16 You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. 17 And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. 18 But not a hair of your head shall be lost. 19 By your patience possess your souls.”

May the good Lord increase our faith, and grant us the grace to honor Him in life and in death.  Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
