VISION AND MATURITY: ONE NEW MAN IN MESSIAH TO THE GLORY OF GOD – 19 Nov 2011

Many believers – especially Jewish – seem to have an identity crisis.  Are we Jewish?  Are we Christian?  Are we neither, or both?  This confusion is seen already in the New Testament, and some strong words are written for our admonition and encouragement.

Is 41:17-20   The poor and needy seek water, and there is none; their tongue fails for thirst, I Yehovah will hear them, I the God of Israel will not leave them.  I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.  I will plant the cedar in the wilderness, the acacia tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree. I will set the fir tree in the desert, and the pine, and the box tree together;  so that they may see, and know, and look on, and understand together, that the hand of Yehovah has done this, and the Holy One of Israel has created it.

Gal 6:13-15   But may it never be for me to boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.  For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision has any strength, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation.  And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them and upon the Israel of God.

Eph 2:14-16   For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, the law of commandments in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting death the enmity.

Phlp 3:14-16   I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  Let us therefore, as many as are mature, be of this mind. And if in anything you are otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this to you.  Yet, as to what we have already attained, let us walk in the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

Jn 17:20-23   And I do not pray for these alone, but for those also who shall believe on Me through their word,  that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe that You have sent Me.  And I have given them the glory which You have given Me, that they may be one, even as We are one;  I in them, and You in Me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that You have sent Me and have loved them as You have loved Me.
