Light is SEEN

It is very interesting that Hanukkah was originally established as an 8-day celebration modeled after Sukkot — the Feast of Booths/Tabernacles, and not because of a miraculous supply of oil to light the Menorah in the Temple.  For those who want to make the birth of the Messiah be during that appointed time of God’s dwelling/tabernacling with His people, God has provided for a “second Sukkot”. (2Macc10:5-8)

The biblical Feast of Booths is a celebration of great rejoicing because God has redeemed and saved His chosen people — those who accepted the atonement provided on Yom Kippur — and ALL Israel will know YHVH as their God, they will be His people.  They will know Him; they will see Him; they will worship Him.  Yeshua/Jesus will physically and personally dwell among His people from that time and forever more.  He will no longer be hidden, but fully in the light.  This is the fulfillment of the Feast of Tabernacles:  all will know Him, from the least to the greatest.

When Yeshua was conceived and in His mother’s womb, the Light was not seen, but hidden.  A light is not put under a basket to be seen, nor inside the darkness of a womb. (Mt 5:14-16)  When a baby is born, and comes into the world, he sees the light outside his mother, and people celebrate the birth.  When Yeshua was conceived by the Holy Spirit inside of Mary (Miriam), hardly anyone knew of it.  When the Messiah was born at the appointed time, some more became aware of it, and they celebrated, and proclaimed that the promised Son of David and Savior King had been born, giving hope to those whose hearts sought redemption. (Lk 2:8-38; 1:67-79; Jn 1:1-14THE LIGHT WAS SEEN!  And most of the people preferred the darkness, even as it is until today — both in Israel and among the Gentiles.

Yeshua’s first coming and His life, death, and resurrection shook heaven and Earth.  He will come a second time — again shaking heaven and Earth — and every eye shall see Him!  He came the first time at an unexpected time; and He will come again, also at an unexpected time; and at an appointed time that the Father has set.  Yeshua’s/Jesus’ birth near the onset of Winter — the darkest and coldest season — was the perfect time of God to proclaim His love and warmth of His Light, offering goodwill to men and peace on Earth.  He was blessing His people through the birth of His beloved Son.  And He put on notice that the kingdoms of this world, with their gods, would be overturned and given to Him to whom it is due. (Ps 2

Let us celebrate what God has done, and prepare with great hope and expectation for what He has planned to do so that all creation will be freed to celebrate the reality of the glory of YHVH (the LORD)!  Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
