God Has A God!?

Rev 3:12-13Ps 45:6-7 ; Heb 1:5-12; Mt 27:45-46 ; Jn 20:17

How do you react when you read the above verses?  They certainly make most of us pause, and even get a little uncomfortable, and nervous as to how to understand them for ourselves, and to explain to others who God is:  Hear, O Israel, YHVH our God(s), YHVH is one.  Shema Israel:  YHVH Eloheinu (Elohim shelanu) YHVH echad.
.שמע ישראל:  יהוה אלהינו יהוה אחד.

I do believe that the Holy Spirit gave me just today enough of an understanding to be helpful to me, and so I take a certain risk on such a high-minded subject by sharing it with you, hoping it to also be a blessing to the readers.  I want to say from the outset that I confidently believe in the deity (not merely the divinity) of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah/Jesus Christ, the Son of God; that is, He is fully God and can be worshipped as God:  He is YHVH who came down from Heaven to us. (Jn 3:12-13; Mt 26:63-66; Dan 7:13-14

YHVH God is uncreated, and in the beginning He created all things that exist.  YHVH is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, with “no daylight between them” — no separation between them. (Gen 1:1; 2:1-4; Col 1:15-17; Rev 4:11; Mt 28:18-20; Jn 16:12-15)

How can YHVH God have a God, if YHVH is eternal and uncreated?  Any “god” that is created is not YHVH!  YHVH is the God of gods. (Dt 10:17; Ps 136:1-3

Yeshua/Jesus says that the Father is greater than He.  He also did acts/works that only God could do, and He acknowledged and demonstrated in different ways that He Himself is God, and that if we see Him we see the Father.  He and the Father are one.  Yeshua was sinless inwardly and outwardly. (2Cor 5:20-21)  Only YHVH is without sin.

One of His names is the Word of God. (Rev 19:11-13)  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word is God (Jn 1:1-2, 14

This is all part of the mystery of the triune God, who appeared in the flesh in the person of Yeshua the Messiah/Jesus Christ.  How can YHVH God have a God, if He is eternal and uncreated?

God is spirit. (Jn 4:23-24)  God was manifested in flesh and blood – conceived by the Holy Spirit in the virgin Mary — to be our Redeemer and Savior through His life, death and resurrection, since a spirit (including angels) can not redeem flesh and blood. (Heb 2:14-18; Phlp 2:5-11; Is 45:18-25) Yeshua, as the Son of God, prayed to His Father; Yeshua subjected His will to His Father’s; Yeshua, the Word of God in the flesh, and confined in space and time while with us, confessed that His Father was greater:  God the Father ruling over the affairs of the Universe which YHVH created and made while the Son, for whom it is, was located in a man’s body in a small country as part of a small people-group; Jesus will ultimately deliver the Kingdom to God the Father, who put all things under Him, after completing the purpose of God for this creation, while He physically lives among His blood-bought Bride forever and ever in the New Creation. (Mt 28:18-20; 1Cor 15:20-28; Eph 1:7-14; Col 1:15-20; Rev 21; Rom 8:28-29)  This is the incredible plan, the will, the wisdom of the thrice Holy God!

When the Father spoke, a sound and voice was heard, and God created the heavens and the Earth.  Had God only thought, no word would have gone forth to be heard.  The Word that went out of the mouth of God expressed Himself:  it was Him.  Yet the Word that was spoken was/is subject to Him who spoke it, while at the same time being one with the One who spoke.  The one who speaks is greater than the word that he spoke, since the speaker did not need to say it, and, in any case, should choose his words carefully.  (God does have some thoughts that He has not yet spoken, and therefore are unsearchable and unknowable to us. [Dt 29:29; Mt 24:36-44])  Jesus says that we will be judged for every idle word that we speak; and He also says that He does not need to judge anyone:  the Word that He spoke will judge us. (Jn 12:47-50) The speaker and his word are one, yet also distinct.  As for YHVH, He never speaks idle words, and His Word is Truth; and we have been given the inspired written Word of God by the Spirit of Truth as being truth, with a curse upon anyone who adds to or takes away from it. (Is 55:8-11

Human beings, created in the image and likeness of God, are also triune:  we have a soul, a body, and a spirit.  All three are essential for us to be the one who/that we are.  Yet, our bodies are to be subject to our minds and will. (Rom 7:7-25; 1Thes 5:23-24; Heb 4:12

YHVH is the one true living God, who alone is holy and good, and to whom alone all praise and worship and glory is due!  He is the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel.  He is the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ.  May we learn to worship Him in spirit and truth. (Jn 4:23-24; 1Jn 5:20-21; Rev 5
