Be'er Sheva was burned by the Assyrian Sennachariv in 701 BC(E). It became a Jewish city again in
1948 AD/CE. There are a couple of wells in and near the modern city going back to earlier habitations, and this is the
area around which the Be'er Sheva of the Bible is mentioned in a number of places. This helps make the Bible very
personal for us, and we feel like Abraham and Sarah, Isaac and Rebecca, Jacob and Rachel and Leah are really the fathers and
mothers of our people, and that YHVH God is still and forever the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob/Israel. God
deals with us in desert places. Beer Sheva lies about 300m/1000ft above sea level. It was a surprise to us to
see how much fog there is here. The site of an historic and heroic horse charge during WW1, Beer Sheva was
the gateway for the defeat of Moslem control in the Holy Land, preparing the way for God to intervene in a powerful way to
bring back His people from exile. The Lord promises a glorious future for the Negev! It does bloom and blossom
even now, especially after rainfall. But to be as the Garden of Eden. . .come Adon Yeshua/Lord Jesus!
Here you will find some links to inform you about some of the city's institutions and some other interesting
sites which connect with Beer Sheva and her story.

Beer Sheva Links (If any of the links fail, please search the web for
the particular site.)
Sde Boker -- Former PM David Ben-Gurion and his wife lived here and
are buried here. It is about 50km/31mi south of Beer Sheva. http://www.boker.org.il/english/
Ein-Avdat -- A major stream in the negev below
the Sde Boker Field School and desert research facility of B-GU of the Negev. http://mosaic.lk.net/g-einavdat.html
Avdat -- An archaeological site with ruins of Christian churches
from the Byzantine period. Not too many people, but three Christian ruins! Unity must be an end-of-the-last
days-reality by the grace and power of God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit! The Lord's prayer
will certainly be answered! Let's be sure to be working together with Him as He brings it to pass in those who are
His. http://mosaic.lk.net/g-avdat.html
Mitzpe Ramon -- In the middle of the Negev Desert, about 80km/50mi south
of Beer Sheva, is one of the world's largest craters. It did not take as long as they say to be formed. http://mosaic.lk.net/g-ramon.html
Timna Park -- You can see a full-scale model of the Tabernacle
in the Wilderness. I was surprised by its size, not what we imagined, but it makes sense. The rest of the
park has some very interesting formations, and a man-made lake to refresh in with paddle boats. http://www.bibleplaces.com/tabernacle.htm
Eilat -- At night you can see Jordan, Egypt (Sinai), and Saudi
Arabia. Be sure to visit The Shelter, a youth hostel run by our friends who are good fishers! http://www.answers.com/topic/eilat#after_ad2
